Collaborate with a Teacher and Evolve Their Practice Assignment 2 Introduction: When I first started teaching English 12 at my present secondary school, I was informed that it included a research paper in the form of an argumentative essay. I was concerned as I had not taught one in past courses, but those already teaching it were willing to share their assignment. Over the years, in working with the teacher librarians (TL), we (the senior English teachers) have altered the assignment and made it more applicable to our students and enhanced the research component of the paper. In this past year, those teaching English 12 at our school have gotten together to alter the research assignment to accommodate a wider range of students with a wider range of skills. Librarians are Indispensable I find that I see everything in my LIBE courses in relation to Senior-English classes. I know that this is natural, in that I am a Senior-English teacher, but I do try to look at things from both other-subject-matter teachers’, and the teacher librarian’s (TL) points of view. From literaryhoots.com I work closely with our TL and I know that other teachers in our school do as well. She helps plan our assignments, team teaches with us, and helps us find texts to help with our curriculum. She also does numerous jobs that help our students. From recommending to ordering books that the students want to read, to helping them learn research skills, or just making them feel welcome in a safe space; her diversity and participation in our school is tremendously important. The Enlightened Luddite – LIBE 467 Theme 1 Blog With this being my first ever Blog post - which I am praying I am doing correctly, I thought I would go with a bit of an amusing title. (Well, at least it is amusing to me.) I often humorously describe myself as a luddite as I am not that good with technology and have a difficult time learning new technological things. I never thought I would have a blog, and if it were not for this course LIBE 467, I don’t think I would have one. My students might end up eventually reaping the benefits of this newly learned skill. But I digress… I do feel enlightened, not only because of the technology, or even LIBE 467, but because of the year that I have been taking LIBE courses.
